The first of April, some do say
Is set apart for All Fool’s Day;
But why the people call it so
Nor I, nor they themselves, do know,
But on this day are people sent
On purpose for pure merriment.
Poor Robin’s Almanac, 1790
The inspiration for this new category came early this morning as I was lying in bed not sleeping. And what a happy coincidence that I write this first entry on April Fools’ Day. My husband and I were reading Power Up Your Brain by Dr. David Perlmutter last night, which is a can’t miss book for anyone who is looking for complete health. The section we read dealt with the link between our conscious thoughts and our health, and how meditation is a key part of training the brain. This tied into another video I had watched with Rick Hanson, author of Bhudda’s Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love and Wisdom , about the brain, laughter, and our happiness. Clearly, our quest for healing, not only for our brain injured daughter but for our whole family, is achieving synchronicity. Laughter is such a key factor to good health, and yet it is so easily cut out of our lives as we race to complete our infinite to do lists. These posts are a reminder to me (and anybody who might stop by) to take time to laugh.
So, here’s to your health and happiness! And now for something completely different…
